AJAX KeyPad
There are several possibilities to operate the AJAX security system.
The installation is done entirely with your smartphone, which of course also allows you to activate or deactivate the system. AJAX also offers a remote control called AJAX SpaceControl which enables you to switch the system on and off over a distance of over 1000 meters. With these two control options you can already switch the system off outside the house, which offers many advantages that we will discuss later.
Where to mount an AJAX KeyPad
A Keypad is intended to be mounted inside a house, preferably in the space behind the entrance door. For most people this will be in the hallway of their house that goes to the front door and the living room. A KeyPad is not meant to be mounted outside, as it is not waterproof.
Why install AJAX KeyPad in a hallway
To start with, the advantage of a KeyPad. A KeyPad can be placed on the inside of your home, as already mentioned. As soon as you enter, you have a few seconds to enter the disable code. You don’t need a smartphone or remote control to turn the system off. That’s convenient, and anyone in the family can do it, even younger children without a smartphone. On the KeyPad, you can also see the status of the alarm system, whether it is on or off, and whether it is active at night. All this by means of which light on the KeyPad lights up.
Disadvantages AJAX KeyPad
The room where the KeyPad is mounted should go into alarm slowly, i.e. you set the detector present in this room so that an alarm signal can only be transmitted after a few seconds.
Because the KeyPad is placed in the house, you will always need a few seconds, usually 30, to get the time to enter the correct code and thus turn off the system. This switch-off time is also given to any burglars who are already in the hallway at the front door.
Each disadvantage has its advantage
The advantage of setting delay times is that this can be done per detector, so that only the room where the KeyPad is present is delayed in alarm, the other rooms such as kitchen and living room can give an alarm immediately upon detection. If a burglar goes to that room, the alarm will go off immediately.
So remember: The room where the KeyPad is located and a motion detector such as a MotionProtect will always be programmed with a delay, otherwise there will be no time to enter the code on the KeyPad.
How to prevent alarm delay
Giving time to possible burglars can be prevented by programming all detectors in the house without delay, and switching off the alarm system not via a KeyPad but via a handheld transmitter called AJAX SpaceControl. Or simply switch off the alarm system via the AJAX App on your smartphone.
