AJAX HomeSiren
Nothing works better than letting an intruder know by means of loud sound signals that he has been spotted.
As soon as one of the detectors makes a detection, within 0.15 seconds a notification will be sent to all paired smartphones, and the connected sirens. AJAX has both indoor and outdoor sirens.
Small size, big sound
The indoor siren is called the AJAX HomeSiren, and it measures only 7.5 by 7.5 centimetres, but despite its small size it still produces a high volume of 105 decibels. The alarm duration is adjustable between 3 and 180 seconds. In addition, you can set an inlet or outlet delay for many detectors. During this delay time you can choose to have the connected siren or sirens beep to confirm that the walk-in or walk-out time has started.
The volume of these beeps can also be set in 3 positions. In the softest setting, this volume is ideal for waking up at night in a normal way without the family waking up in the whole house (if positioned in the bedroom).
The HomeSiren should be installed indoors to warn of danger or to deter intruders.
105 Decibels not enough?
If you feel that 105 decibels of volume is not enough to deter intruders, then instead of installing a HomeSiren inside the house, you can also choose to install the siren that is actually intended for outside inside the house. The AJAX StreetSiren can be placed anywhere, even inside the house. The volume of this outdoor siren is a maximum of 113 decibels.
Note: A 3 db increase means a doubling in sound volume. Since the difference in maximum db between the indoor and outdoor siren is 8 db, this means that the outdoor siren produces no less than 5 times as much volume than the indoor siren.
HomeSiren in combination with StreetSiren
Many people choose not only to mount a siren inside, but also a siren outside. A single indoor siren will not or hardly stand out in an urban area with a lot of traffic on the surrounding roads. The use of both an indoor and an outdoor siren will certainly be noticeable, as the volume of the StreetSiren on the facade of your home can be up to 100 metres away.
Our advice
When using the HomeSiren we always recommend a StreetSiren for maximum attention. If you live in a location where a street siren is not possible for whatever reason, choose a higher deterrent in case of a burglary for indoor installation of the AJAX StreetSiren.
Difference in sound
The AJAX HomeSiren does not give a constant sound, but warns through a loud pulsing beep which many people recognize from cheap smoke detectors. The AJAX StreetSiren, on the other hand, emits a real constant siren, which provides a higher deterrent effect. Please note that the outdoor siren is considerably larger and heavier than the AJAX HomeSiren. So take this into account when determining the location. We can imagine that a large siren is not really nice present on the ceiling of your living room. If the situation outside allows a siren to be mounted on the facade, then that is the best place for the AJAX StreetSiren.
Why would you want to have an AJAX HomeSiren in your home?
Some of our customers choose to install only a siren on the outside wall, and no siren in the house. We don’t think that’s a smart decision, and are happy to explain why we always recommend a HomeSiren in the hallway or even bedroom in combination with an outdoor siren.
Advantage of siren inside and outside
A siren can give more than just a loud beep or a constant siren. Each detector of AJAX can be set to have a delay. If you choose to slow down the detectors during the night, the connected siren will not immediately sound at full volume, but will wake you up more gently with a few soft beeps. The volume of these beeps is also adjustable so that you can decide for yourself how you want to be woken up at night when detecting intruders.
So if a random motion detector detects movement at night, the AJAX HomeSiren will start beeping softly. You then switch off the system to determine what is going on, and whether there is actually an intruder present. This way, not the whole family or the whole street will be woken up. If you do not respond to the soft beeps, the siren switches to full volume after a preset time. Of course the siren can also be activated manually at any time with the remote control and the panic button on the remote control.
When to opt for delay?
In the settings you can choose to have a delay on certain detectors at night before the loud alarm goes off, for example, and no delay during the day. During the day, a loud siren will sound immediately if detection has taken place somewhere.
As indicated in the programming for each detector, you can choose whether an alarm should sound immediately or whether it should be delayed. Given the volume of the outdoor siren, we can imagine situations where you don’t want to immediately wake up the entire street. But in case of a real emergency you can.
AJAX HomeSiren is very easy to assemble.
Functionalities
Connector for external LED is available. It can be mounted outside your apartment or office to monitor the status of the security system. The AJAX HomeSiren also has its own small light which flashes when the system is activated.
Installation and setup
Ready to use from the box: the battery is already installed, so there is no need to disassemble the siren. With just one click connected to the hub in the mobile application. It can be mounted on the SmartBracket in just a few minutes.
Battery life of the AJAX HomeSiren
The supplied batteries of the HomeSiren will last an average of 2 years under normal use, after which they are easy to replace. The AJAX HomeSiren can also be connected to a separate power supply. In this way, the batteries only serve as a back-up power source, and in principle never need to be replaced because the required power is always drawn from the external power supply.
Connect up to 10 sirens to one AJAX protection system
Also so fond of a lot of noise during a burglary attempt? You can set off as many as 10 sirens simultaneously when one of the coupled detectors detects movement. If that doesn’t attract attention, we don’t know anymore 😉
